“Good-bye”

A sad good-bye is always,

Hard at Christmas time,

Even if it’s not too long,

We leave someone behind.

But then it is much harder,

If the good-bye we must say,

Means we’re apart much longer,

It hits us hard that way.

I’ve said good-bye to parents,

Others who had to die,

People I once cherished,

It made a hard good-bye.

And now my brother calls me,

To say that horse of his,

Got to the end of his long life,

It’s just the way it is.

He had old “W” fourteen years,

And he would do it all,

Go and catch the cattle,

And let a kid ride, y’all.

Steady as the sunrise,

Same ‘bout everyday,

Whether at the rodeo,

Or down the road to play.

And lately he’s been thinner,

And slower, like he hurt,

Afraid that soon he’d lay there,

And stay down in the dirt.

So brother takes old “W,”

To the vet to put him down,

Calls me then to tell me,

And my memories abound.

Again it’s just a horse some say,

Guess I know what they mean,

But if it’s one that you have known,

The pain can get real keen.

Where ever those old horses go,

I hope our “W” finds,

Peaceful pastures, lots of grass,

And endless happy times.

Good-bye, good-bye old partner,

And thanks for all you’ve done,

To give us all those cowboy times,

Now that your race is run.

”He comforts us in all our troubles…” (2 Corinthians 1:4,NLT)

God is called the “source of all comfort,” and Lord knows we need it. If people knew it, they’d never turn to the bottle or drugs or the wrong person to find relief. No, they would get all the comfort they need from the Lord, no matter the circumstance. Think your pain is too much? You’re right, it is! But not too much for Him. There is no sadness, grief, or wound He cannot help and heal. He is the ultimate comforter. Get some.

Lord, give us Your comfort, in Jesus’ name.
