"All"
I won’t do it for money,
Or for power or for fame,
All of that means nothing,
Compared to Jesus’ name.
I won’t dance with the devil,
He makes you stay too long,
And everything He offers,
Turns out to be so wrong.
I won’t misrepresent this,
Or shade the truth or spin,
You have to know the whole truth,
To once decide you’re in.
‘Cause the Kingdom cost expensive,
In fact means everything,
But all of those who count it,
Say it’s worth all that you bring.
Yes, to the feet of Jesus,
It’s really all for Him,
Not followng somebody’s rules,
Or blown with churchy wind.
No, when the Holy Spirit,
Takes hold and grips your heart,
You’ll get the steady feeling,
That whatever is your part,
You’ll be glad to do it,
Whatever change or price,
You’ll give up what you have to,
Make any sacrifice.
And when that is the bargain,
That we all must make,
Because seeking the Kingdom,
Is something you can’t fake.
Above all else it’s Jesus,
Recognize His role,
To be, not just your Savior,
But Lord of all you hold.
It’s the treasure hidden in a field,
The pearl of greatest price,
You’ll do anything to get it,
Sell all, it will suffice.
So come on now, my brother,
And sister, come on in,
Count the cost of Jesus,
Then just say yes to Him.
“If any of you wants to be My follower; you must give up your own way…” (Luke 9:29, NLT)
Giving up our own way is not an easy thing. It actually goes against the grain of everything the world says you should do to get ahead. But Jesus calls us to die so that we may live. The great enemy of abundant living is our own selfish ego- my rights, my desires, my happiness. It’s narcissism at its worst and we’re all afflicted. But if we surrender to Jesus and learn to die daily, every thing that matters can be ours. Seek the kingdom first, and what we need will come. But not until…
Lord, help us surrender control to You, in Jesus’ name.
