"Can Do"
I don’t always get things right,
Fact I often get ‘em wrong,
Sometimes feelin’ real uptight,
But I don’t stay there long.
And here’s the reason I admit,
I’m God’s forgiven child,
And by His grace I never quit,
Since on me He smiled.
Been way out there in darkest space,
Where chaos is your friend,
But now I’m running in this race,
And won’t go back again.
I find His power when I’m weak,
His strength when I am tired,
Gives me words so I can speak,
And keeps my mind inspired.
And true I think how can it be,
This cowboy He can use,
Often it surprises me,
When I can share good news.
But that’s the truth, I’m tellin’ you,
For every mother’s son,
There’s something special we can do,
And that means everyone.
“Each time He said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:
Admitting that you are too weak to accomplish something requires humility. The good news is that when we get to the end of our strength, God’s power kick in. This is especially important when the Lord does not remove the obstacle we’re facing but gives us sufficient grace to deal with it. Such was Paul’s “thorn in the flesh.” He implored God to remove it, much the way we ask the Lord to remove things that burden and bother us. Sometimes He does, and everything changes. But sometimes it’s about the change He is making in us, helping us learn to rely on His strength in our weakness.
Lord, strengthen us, in Jesus’ name.
