"Circle"

Distant places, long-gone faces,

From Caroline and Alabam,

All my kin from way back then,

Now passed but here I am.

Circles ridden, sometimes hidden,

But directed every step,

From Honea Path and southern wrath,

Which served as childhood prep.

To horseback live and often give,

More than I thought I could,

Old Bama strong, for decades long,

And stay there thought I would.

But seasons turned and bridges burned,

And Texas called my name,

Against all odds, the plan was God’s,

I’d never be the same.

A love that’s true and work to do,

The hungry for to feed,

A little ranch and it’s our chance,

A cowboy church to lead.

A longhorn bull and pasture full,

Of color, hide and horn,

Some feeder calves, their mama’s paths,

To follow when they’re born.

Good horses, too, yes just a few,

Three to be exact,

To saddle up and fill our cup,

When we need to get horseback.

And all of this because we’re His,

Based on His faithfulness,

New every day and come what may,

His mercies are the best.

And when it’s done, we’ve had our run,

We’ll shout for joy at last,

Adventure great, God’s never late,

And then when life is passed,

We still will go with Him, you know,

Into eternity,

The sweet grass here, the Savior near,

Leads on to what will be.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NLT)

Note the verse does not say God causes everything. That would amount to blaming God for every bad choice we ever made. On the other hand look at what it does say. God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called. That’s truly an amazing promise, don’t you think? And if you love God and have experienced His calling in your life, you’ve seen it come true! I know I have, in spite of every twist and turn He was moving in my life every step of the way. We may not see it immediately but we will eventually. It causes us to celebrate His faithfulness which is life-changing!

Lord, help us to acknowledge Your presence and purpose every step of the way, in Jesus’ name.
