"Content"
Stuck in the sad and sometimes the mad,
And tempted to just call it quits,
The burdens we feel, not imagined they’re real,
Folks get overwhelmed I admit.
But just when it seems, we’re all out of dreams,
And going down for the last time,
The Savior says yes, you’re through with this test,
I won’t lose my grip you’ll be fine.
And it’s just that you see, that leads us to be,
Calmer the next time around,
We know come what may, the Good Lord will say,
My grace will always abound.
The thorn it might stick and down to the quick,
We’d sooner He take it away,
But sometimes it stays, to show us always,
His grace is sufficient each day.
So hearts and hands raised, His name be praised,
We find our contentment and peace,
Not in how things go but deeper you know,
We find it in His smiling face.
“Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have…For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:11, 13)
Contentment is elusive. Most feel okay when things flow smoothly and predictably. But when trouble comes they are overwhelmed with fear, sadness and sometimes rage. God has called us to live above our circumstances and find contentment in Him. Trials come and go, but God’s grace is there to strengthen, comfort and help us. He will do through us what we could never do, and in the process keep us at peace. It’s the best way to live!
Lord, help us find our contentment in Your, in Jesus’ name.
