"Cowboy Work"

The cowboy work is calling,

Bring out the horse you’re stalling,

A slicker for rain falling,

Or snow if it gets cold.

It’s not romantic early,

And Cookie’s feelin’ surly,

Old wind is breezy, burly,

The day will soon unfold.

Today, just trailin’ bovine,

And topping off the equine,

Hoping it all goes fine.

And nothing much goes wrong.

But gentle horses do buck,

Tires go flat on our truck,

And sometimes all is bad luck,

The day can get real long.

The Good Lord gave it to us,

His Spirit comes right through us,

The devil can’t undo us,

We’ll thank God all day long.

‘Cause if you’re gonna cowboy,

And consistent with your employ,

The cow boss not to annoy,

Need God to keep you strong.

So saddle up and step on,

The dark gives way to day’s dawn,

A place to work and belong,

The Good Lord makes it so.

Faith and friends and hard work,

Though you don’t get the town perk,

Better far than their shirk,

Where we’re supposed to go.

To cowboy and to be one,

Or whatever you go get done,

Make sure that you can outrun,

What holds you back it’s true,

No doubt, no fear in you.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline…” (2 TIm. 1:7, NLT)

We all have responsibility and assigned tasks. If you love what you do, you are blessed. If you don’t, but know you need to stay the course, God can keep you content until something else opens up for you. In any case, fear and timidity defeats the purpose. It has a paralyzing effect on us, stealing opportunities for progress. God does not want us to be afraid. He replaces our fear with power, love and self-discipline. His Spirit energizes us to maximize every opportunity and keep moving forward. Never let fear steal God’s highest and best. He will help us if we cooperate with Him!

Lord, help us cast out our fear, in Jesus’ name.
