"Days"
The days come and go,
Time is fleeting they say,
No matter the effort,
We can’t make it stay.
It flows and it goes,
It’s here, then it’s gone,
Fills us with memories,
As we travel along.
Hopeless and painful,
And tragic for some,
Stuck in the hard times,
So the good days can’t come.
Dreading tomorrow,
For fear it will be,
Just more of the heartbreak,
And sheer misery.
And that would be me,
Before grace came to heal,
Interrupted my trouble,
Showed me Jesus is real.
Now He fills my time,
With His presence you know,
Touched by the eternal,
Whether rapid or slow.
Jesus is Lord,
Of the days that we live,
Leads us with purpose,
And we believe He will give,
Full entry to heaven,
When our days are through,
No doubt He has promised,
We believe it is true.
Today is the day,
That the Good Lord has made,
We will rejoice,
In His presence that stayed.
“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Please, Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success.” (Psalm 118:24-25, NLT)
If we recognize every day as a gift from the Lord we learn to live thankfully. We also trust Him for the two things that make life most meaningful: salvation and success. Salvation is the number one need we have, and is based on our cooperation with God’s grace. It is our daily experience with grace that saves us eternally from both the penalty and power of sin. Success, as defined by the Lord, means we have fulfilled God’s perfect will and assignment for our lives. This, too, is accomplished by His grace. Rejoice! He made the day.
Lord, please save us and grant us success, in Jesus’ name.
