"Do or Die"

Small men with louder voices,

Tell the world to follow them,

Deceiving with their choices,

Based upon mere human whim.

Their ways so often taken,

By the blind leading the blind,

In the end by all forsaken,

Chasing peace they cannot find.

At the first it glows and glitters,

With pleasure for a season,

But the hurt so soon embitters,

Defying rhyme or reason.

Though seductive is the masquerade,

Of those angels claiming light,

Don’t listen to their sad charade,

But boldly choose what’s right.

And when the righteous seed is sown,

Planting now for what comes later,

The harvest breaks with God’s Word grown,

All praise to the Creator.

So listen to and celebrate,

What God’s Word says is true,

It’s never up for man’s debate,

Or those who have no clue.

The truth will set the captive free,

No matter who agrees,

What has been will always be,

We have no one to please,

Except the Savior when we trust,

He sees what others don’t,

Those who deceive we shake the dust,

And follow them we won’t.

Nor look back with worldly wish,

To whom we’ve said good-bye,

A brand new call for men to fish,

For us it’s do or die.

“Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.” (1 Timothy 4:1-2, NLT)

The closer we get to the second coming of Jesus the more prevalent deception will become. People will be led astray by hypocrites, liars and those with dead consciences. These are people who have become so deceived by the demonic they call right wrong and wrong right. We are called to exercise godly discernment and stay focused on God’s truth. He will protect us from deception is we have a consistent, steady diet of the truth. The truth alone will set us free and keep us that way.

Lord, free us from all deception, in Jesus’ name.
