"Faith-Think"
What could you be thinking,
That’s what they often ask,
When they don’t think you’re linking,
Good sense with what is past.
They suspect you’re reckless,
Or you’ve somehow lost your mind,
Because they judge you feckless,
And doubt that you can find,
The future that is waiting,
And all you ought to be,
And verbally they’re stating,
What they think they can see.
But what they cannot fathom,
Is that you walk by faith,
Cannot bridge the chasm,
And insist that you wait.
But if there is no action,
Then there is little change,
Cannot get much traction,
Or the future rearrange.
And what may look plumb crazy,
Is just what God says do,
Delivers us from lazy,
And to His will be true.
The waves may still be blowing,
And the wind so strong and loud,
Out of the old boat growing,
On waves humbly and not proud.
No matter if Mt. Everest,
Is what’s in front of you,
The seed of faith is your best,
Way it moves, it’s true.
So if they think you’re crazy,
It is not them you please,
And you are not their daisy,
And they don’t hold the keys,
To all that God is planning,
The vision and the goal,
So keep on your flame fanning,
Until God’s plan unfolds.
“So Peter went over the side of boat and walked on the water toward Jesus…” (Matt. 14:29, NLT)
It must have seemed crazy to the other disciples when Peter got out of the boat and walked on the waves toward Jesus. They were frightened of the storm and even more when Jesus showed up. They thought he was a ghost! Then, all of a sudden, there goes Simon Peter over the side! But what may look crazy isn’t really crazy at all. In fact it was more rationale than sitting in the boat. Only you can judge when it’s time for you to get out of the boat. But I would suggest that it comes for everyone. It may not look as dramatic as Simon’s wave-walking adventure, but it will come nonetheless. If we succeed, it will be because we refused to be intimidated by the wind, the waves, or the people with us in the boat. It will be because we took a step of faith. And walking and living that way is what God intends for all of us! Believe it.
Lord, help us to live by faith, in Jesus’ name.
