"Future"
There shrouded in mystery,
The future waits for you,
You cannot make it hurry,
It takes its time it’s true.
And out there in the someday,
Is who you’ll one day be,
But no way you can know them,
Or that someone see.
it will be the you that’s older,
And wiser hopefully,
More prone to do the right thing,
Than more insanity.
Which is same old thing doing,
But being so deceived,
You think things will be different,
From what you last received.
But no, it’s just the same old,
Seed you sowed before,
It will produce the same thing,
Same harvest that’s in store.
But good news there’s a good chance,
You do something so new,
That everyone is so surprised,
When it does come true.
Go into God’s future,
With confidence and peace,
Don’t let the past enslave you,
But every weight release.
“…Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…” (Phil. 3:13, NLT).
What are you looking forward to? In these uncertain times people are afraid to get their hopes up, for fear of being disappointed. Again. Some have lowered their expectations so low they have even begun to expect something bad, rather than hope for something good. I don’t know which is worse, expecting nothing or expecting something awful. Either way, it’s a pretty sad prospect for enjoying abundant life. Don’t be a missionary of misery. Instead, do what Paul did: forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead. Forgetting means letting go of the past so it no longer controls you. You don’t literally “forget” but when you remember it does not slow you down. Looking forward to the future means we recognize that the Lord is in control and we can trust Him with what’s happening in our lives. There is a future because He is our future. What are you looking forward to?
Lord, help us make peace with the past and welcome the future, in Jesus’ name.
