"Gooseneck"
You might call her a rattle trap,
But all her tires still roll,
She sports a shade of almost black,
A few just short of coal.
She’s rusty but she’s ready,
Her cut gate swings and shuts,
And every single light she has,
Is bright no if’s or buts.
She wears a tag that says farm use,
Her loads of bovine sure,
Horse gone for endless miles,
And still she will endure.
A longhorn bull to A & M,
Just to have a pedicure,
And then with pics at every stop,
On her last cowboy tour.
She might be just a tool to some,
But this old worn goose-neck,
Has gone 200,000 miles,
And even more, I ‘spect.
And when time comes to help someone,
She’s always there you see,
Just hook her up and down the road,
The cowboy’s friend to be.
Would to God we worked like this,
His tool to haul and go,
To roll whene’er the mission calls,
Responding yes, not no.
And the tool in Jesus’ hands,
For His use everyday,
To throw that gate and get ‘er done,
And finish, come what may.
“Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:21, NAS)
God has called us to be “vessels” used for His glory. He wants to fill us and then use us to impact the lives of people around us. Every believer has a calling into Christian ministry, and all of us together compose the body of Christ in the world today. The Lord requires our availability without reservation to Him, and to keep ourselves cleansed from evil. So as to maximize our effectiveness, He calls us to say no to compromise and yes to His will. To be a cleansed vessel is to be an effective tool in the hands of Jesus.
Lord, we pray that You will use us for Your glory, in Jesus’ name.
