"Heart-broke"

When all you have are tears to cry,

And barely strength to just get by,

And if you could you’d sit and sigh,

The Lord your God is near,

To all those with a broken heart,

And nothing can split you apart,

The mercy for a brand-new start,

Just pray and He will hear.

It won’t always feel this way,

New mercies come, a whole new day,

You’ll come through, you’ll  be okay,

He promises His peace,

To those who cast on Him their care,

Lay burdens down for He is there,

Believe again, it’s true I swear,

His grace is your release.

The grace that all the humble get,

Is yours to claim, He’ll give it yet,

Receive it strong and then I’ll bet,

You’ll rise to praise His name.

The Healer of what hurts us most,

Nothing else comes even close,

The moving of the Holy Ghost,

You’ll never be the same.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18, NAS)

When we are going through heart-break it can be very challenging to stay strong spiritually. In fact sometimes the opposite happens. Our pain causes us to question God and even become angry with Him. Unanswered questions, unfair results and deeply wounded emotions can combine to put us in a place of angry hopelessness. But God… The scriptures tell us over and over again that the Lord is near those who are in this dark place. They may not feel Him but He is there, offering peace, comfort, healing and relief. Some have turned in desperation to Him, expecting some sort of rebuke, only to find He is closer than the air we breathe and so ready to bless. It truly is amazing every time it happens.

Lord, relieve us, in Jesus’ name.
