"Hydrate"
No doubt that Texas heat is real,
No complaint it’s just the deal,
Summer’s here and you can feel,
It’s really getting’ hot.
You gotta learn a steady pace,
Take some breaks and do not race,
Use something wet to wipe your face,
And try to drink a lot.
It got to me the other day,
Hate to admit but this I’ll say,
That old Texas sun don’t play,
So give it some respect.
Don’t get drained but hydrate up,
Electrolytes to fill your cup,
Stay prepared ‘cause that’s whatsup,
I can’t be more direct.
And spiritually it is the same,
Hydrate up in Jesus’ name,
Living water, Spirit’s fame,
Or else you will run dry.
But Spirit-filled’s the way to be,
Depend upon God’s energy,
And when it’s hottest you will see,
He’ll strengthen all your try.
“Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, '‘from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:37-38, NAS)
To be spiritually hydrated means first that we look to Jesus to quench our spiritual thirst. Then it means that His presence like a river will flow out of us. John explained that Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit. It’s one thing to know Jesus, but quite another to be filled to overflowing with Jesus. But that is exactly what God wants to do for every one of us. The life of Jesus will flow through us and touch people’s lives around us. He will energize every assignment and enable us to live on purpose. This is abundant life indeed.
Lord, let Your river of life flow through us, in Jesus’ name.
