"I'm A-Comin'"
He told me I’m a-comin’,
Those were my Grandpa’s words to me,
Together huntin’ rabbits,
It was him, his dog, us three.
And we listened as she jumped one,
And I hoped I’d get a shot,
A rabbit ran through Grandpa’s legs,
He laughed out loud a lot.
Dad told I’m a-comin’,
When we turned those wild steers back,
They were headed for the brush again,
No time for someone slack.
And together with my brother,
No one sleepy to come up,
We got those cattle gathered,
And loaded on the truck.
Mama told me I’m a-comin’,
When she knew that I felt low,
The cards that life had dealt me,
Full of things too sad to show.
And with comfort and some pecan pie,
She told me she would pray,
And I remember every word,
Right down to this day.
Lord, please look after my son, Brad,
And Your call upon his life,
Heal his broken heart, Lord,
And cast away his strife.
Said the Spirit is a-comin’,
To lift from you this grief,
And if you’ll only let Him,
He’ll give you His relief.
The Lord said I’m a-comin’,
When I’ve prepared your place,
Some will not expect it,
But one day you’ll see My face.
And riders by the thousands,
Will be a-comin’ with Me, too,
And until you see Me,
Here’s something you should do,
Tell everyone who’ll listen,
That I love and died for them,
And that I am a-comin’,
The bad fruit for to trim.
So they should now get ready,
For I’m a-comin’ soon,
And all who call upon Me,
I still have lots of room.
Lord, we’re humbled down and prayin’,
A-comin’ to Your throne,
Give us grace to live for You,
With all who are Your own.
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me. There is more than enough room in My Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for You? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with Me where I am.” (John 14:1-3, NLT)
Jesus is the great reliever of all that troubles us. He counseled then and now to trust Him. Trusting the Lord means we let go of every care and burden. We surrender control to the One who knows us best and loves us the most. He is preparing a place for us and will return to bring us home with Him. This promise is more than assuring. It is meant to breathe certainty into an uncertain world, and to ultimately stabilize and secure every step we take till it’s over. Whether He comes before we die or we meet Him in death’s doorway, we live in positive anticipation and take as many with us as we can. Even so, come Lord Jesus.
Lord, help us trust You with anything and everything that troubles us, in Jesus’ name. (Art
