"Kingdom Kids"
It’s boots and hats and ropes and spurs,
A horseback girls and boys,
But they remember who they are,
Not fooled by this world’s noise.
Rompin’, stompin’ dragon slayin’,
Future giant-killers,
Born to do all God intends,
Though they are just beginners.
Led to see that God’s own plan,
Is just what we all need,
Open hearts to hear His Word,
And let God plant the seed.
Young in years but wise, no doubt,
They hear the Savior’s call,
To go into this world you know,
And share His love with all.
The Spirit workin’, clothing power,
Filled with His presence sure,
Witnesses they feel the fire,
That always will endure.
To ride for Him in all the do,
The Kingdom brand they wear,
And all because the ones who knew,
Stood up and showed they care.
“Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.” (1 Timothy 4:12, NAS)
I spent the weekend as part of the Western Legacy’s rodeo Bible camp. The Sheriff’s posse hosted and fed, while wonderful rodeo athletes coached the kids on timed events and gave spiritual testimonies. It was powerful. I believe the Spirit of God did life-changing things with young people, and the future will show the long-term results. I met the Lord at the age of seventeen at a weekend youth retreat. I am now seventy-two, but that was the defining moment of my entire life. Praise God for young people who love the Lord.
Lord, help us love and lead the young, in Jesus’ name.
