"Lighted Trail"

The trail I ride is clearly lit,

I can’t pretend a single bit,

God lights the path and that’s just it,

The Good Lord shows the way.

So I can’t play dumb or act confused,

‘Bout becoming someone who is used,

By God’s good grace all fear defused,

The Good Lord has His say.

To know and then refuse to do,

All the Good Lord tells us to,

Grieves the Spirit it is true,

And shows our self should die.

Crucified with Christ you see,

Take up your cross and bend the knee,

Denying ego is the key,

If we the Word apply.

Loving God with all our hearts,

Then loving others, play our parts,

To rescue from the devil’s darts,

And make His Good News known.

And right until the very end,

We will follow where He sends,

Thankful Jesus calls us friends,

And heaven is our home.

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105, NLT)

When someone shines a light in a dark place the mood shifts. Why? Because when the darkness prevents us from seeing and knowing the way things can get pretty dicey in a hurry. Here’s the good news. God never wants us to be in the dark and unable to find the way. Jesus has come as the unconquerable, unquenchable light of the world and His life is the light of men. It can never be extinguished and chases away the darkness that seeks to deceive and seduce. He enables us to live in the light, be filled with light, and become children of light.

Lord, guide us with Your light, in Jesus’ name.
