"Look"
Look yonder where I’m pointin’,
That’s what Dad said to me,
‘Bout that steer that was a-hidin’,
In the brush that he could see.
I said I just don’t see him,
Though I looked with all my might,
He’s right there in those bushes,
But hidden from my sight.
Dad thought If he described him,
His ear and horn and tail,
I would clearly see him,
Where he led us on that trail.
But I just couldn’t do it,
It made my Daddy mad,
Though I was really nervous,
Did the best with what I had.
Dad knew that I could find one,
Knew I could rope one, too,
But just couldn’t see what he saw,
Though I tried real hard it’s true.
Then that steer moved in the shadows,
And His outline became clear,
Of a sudden I could see him,
Standing in the brush so near.
In this I find a lesson,
When folks just cannot see,
Though we point them to Jesus,
And what He’s calling them to be.
No matter that it’s clear to us,
For them it’s not that way,
Though it’s true He loves them,
And shows them every day.
We pray their eyes are opened,
Ask God to help us wait,
To not be in a hurry,
Though their seeing seems so late.
Help us keep on pointing,
To the One who died for all,
And praise God when they see Him,
And on His name they call.
“Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4, NLT)
Being spiritually blind is serious business. The Good News of Jesus is simple enough for even a child to understand and receive salvation. But people don’t understand it. The enemy blinds them and does all he can to deceive them with his lies. It’s a wonderful thing, however, when God’s light breaks through their darkness and they’re able to finally see! It’s our job to keep on shining the light, no matter what.
Lord, help us shine the light of Your love, in Jesus’ name.
