"Meditator"

They say that meditation,

Is a good thing for your soul,

But with all this world’s distractions,

It’s hard, the truth be told.

‘Cause many voices call us,

The noise seems not to cease,

Not easy to find silence,

Or a place of peace.

That’s just one of the reasons,

I love to saddle up,

‘Cause if I can get horseback,

I have the greatest luck.

In silencing the voices,

And letting trouble go,

To drink of God’s creation,

And rein in life’s fast flow.

Come to think about it,

Not really luck at all,

But God’s good plan and Spirit,

It’s all about His call.

And no, it’s not just this way,

That God will give His peace,

For you it may be different,

Your burdens He’ll release.

But just my testimony,

The ride restores my soul,

He heals my meditator,

And Jesus makes me whole.

“But His delight is in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night…” (Ps. 1:2, NLT)

What we think about matters, but what we meditate on matters more. Why? ‘Cause whatever our mind habitually focuses on ultimately controls what we do. That is why people say success is an “inside job.” So is failure, because so much of it springs from what we think. Getting away to think, meditate, pray and the rest is healthy. I think maybe that’s what God had in mind when He set aside the Sabbath, the day of rest. Our minds need rest as much or maybe even more than our bodies. If I can get my meditator right, most likely my life will be right. Most everything we do is not spontaneous but premeditated. The mind that is filled with God thoughts has no room for the pettiness that consumes so many of us.

Lord, help us to mediate on You and what You say, in Jesus’ name.
