"Remember"

Remembering’s important,

Like Texas’ Alamo,

Or ne’er forget what happened,

On 9-11, don’t you know.

Remember those who served us,

Those who made the sacrifice,

So that we live in freedom,

They paid an awful price.

Remember what your kinfolks taught,

Back when you were a kid,

Don’t forget their wisdom,

And all the things they did.

Remember to be thankful,

Count your blessings everyday,

Don’t  be a complainer,

Learn to live the grateful way.

Remember when your first love,

Was Jesus first and Jesus most,

Come back and do the first things,

Be filled with the Holy Ghost.

And when you sit at supper,

And you eat your daily bread,

Remember Jesus’ body,

Just like the words He said.

And when your raise your cup to drink,

Remember what He gave,

Drank the cup of suffering,

The whole wide world to save.

So many things don’t matter,

We forget ‘em, don’t you see,

Btu some things are important,

And strong in memory.

Don’t forget the least of these,

Don’t forget to pray,

Don’t forget to lend a hand,

Don’t forget today.

And know He’ll not forget us,

We are safely in His grip,

Thank God we’re always on His mind,

A sure relationship.

“But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first…” (Revelation 2:4-5a)

The Lord loves us enough to point out what we’ve forgotten and need to remember. Do you remember a time when you loved Jesus more than you do now? Was there a time when you were closer to Him? If you can honestly say yes to this, it’s time to remember what that was like. What were you doing that kept your intimacy with the Lord what it ought to be? The Holy Spirit says go back, remember, and do those things again. We can rekindle the spiritual fire if we remember.

Lord, help us return to our first love, in Jesus” name.
