"Renewed"

Can you feel it changing,

The seasons turn again,

The world keeps on revolving,

Just as it’s always been.

The difference is we’re living,

Right now and only can,

Live each day as it happens,

Like all before us ran.

Did they think of dying,

Guess sometimes they did,

They’d write or sing about it,

And ever since a kid,

I’ve wondered ‘bout the history,

Of folks who lived and died,

Their dreams, hopes, and accomplishments,

Now only can reside,

In someone else’s memory,

Or maybe not at all,

Generations are forgotten,

Though large, they faded small.

I rise and smell the dawning,

I saddle up and ride,

I praise the Lord for blessing,

And pray with Him abide.

And sometimes comes distressing,

And anger takes the lead,

Or worry gets the best of me,

The fears I hate to feed.

I turn my pony homeward,

I see the end of day,

The wondrous colors splashing,

Across the cloud’s skyway.

Another one has come and gone,

Add to the season’s turn,

But what have I done with it,

The chaff and stubble burn.

And no one will remember,

At lease that’s how it seems,

If i did one thing worthy,

And chased a godly dream.

No matter, it’s the Savior,

Whose smile is given me,

Ans washed by His blood’s cleansing,

I have security.

And purpose, yes I have it,

Though gone soon I will be,

It’s all about what’s coming,

When life is through, you see.

Can you feel it changing,

The seasons turn again,

But Jesus still renews us,

We've changed from what has been.

“…let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think…” (Romans 12:2, NLT)

God is in the transformation business. If not, life can be pretty darn depressing. But He renews our minds and changes the way we think. This results in positive changes in our day to day behavior. We become more and more like Jesus, and less like the prevailing culture of the world. Don’t imitate them, Paul wrote, but rather let Him help you to understand and do His will. And His will is always good and pleasing and perfect. From chaos to confidence. From panic to peace. From selfishness to service. It’s a good change, and it’s within reach, by the grace of God.

Lord, change the way we think. Change our lives, in Jesus’ name.
