"Resist"

He saddled up and rode away,

Wasn’t welcome, couldn’t stay,

That’s because he heard us say,

In Jesus’ name, begone.

The Good Book says if we resist,

And with God’s armor we persist,

The One in us will never miss,

And He will make us strong.

God of this world we fight, you see,

The war is won there’s victory,

But till Christ comes and all are free,

We break the strongholds down.

Soldiers washed and in the light,

Determined to just do what’s right,

Leave behind the dark of night,

Set free the captives bounds.

The humble do not tolerate,

The nonsense of the devil’s gait,

And never will procrastinate,

When they push him down the road.

The grace is there to make him run,

And never stops till we are done,

The authority of God the Son,

The Spirit’s power flowed.

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7, NAS)

We have a spiritual adversary that must be resisted. The battle is real, the stakes are high, and we must take it seriously. We don’t blame every bad thing that happens on the devil. That would be giving him too much credit. But we are naive if we refuse to acknowledge that some cases present us with a demonic fight. We resist, in Jesus’ name, and we expect the promise of God’s word to come true. The devil must flee. Why? Because we have the grace promised to the humble, and we’re able to exercise the authority that we choose to stand under. He must flee.

Lord, help us put the devil on the run, in Jesus’ name.
