"Rhyme"

Right on time, I get the line,

Becomes a sign, I will be fine.

I write the verse, to bless not curse,

Forget the purse, last shall be first.

So years back when, my treasured friend,

Said time to spend, and poems pen.

I first thought not, until I got,

Exactly what, he said God brought.

Cowboy tales and cattle sales,

On winding trails, it never fails.

There comes the line, and then the rhyme,

God makes it prime, my hill to climb.

And you ask how, the verse endow,

With truth somehow, right here and now.

The Spirit moves, and daily proves,

All doubt removes, to write behooves.

So every day, though come what may,

This price I pay, and gladly lay,

My efforts there, with heart laid bare,

The altar’s prayer, into God’s care.

Be cowboy true, in what we do,

The Spirit’s cue, until life’s through.

With rein and rope, we share the hope,

To help ‘em cope, walk, trot or lope.

Bible-based, our sins erased,

Ourselves we’ve faced, and God’s dream chased.

Till Jesus comes, or race is run,

Assignments done, and victory won.

“God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another…” (1 Peter 4:10, NLT)

God gives us assignments and gifts to do what He’s called us to do. These verses, and others like them, remind us that when we are graced by God it is God’s plan that we share that grace with others. We are blessed to be a blessing. Someone has said God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called. I believe that’s true. You may feel completely inadequate to do anything much for God. But that’s not true. All of us are called and all of us are gifted to do something. This would include talents, but beyond our natural abilities there are also supernatural “charisms” (grace gifts) that the Spirit brings. Start serving, and ask God to use you. You will find He graces us generously.

Lord, grace us to do what You’ve assigned us to do, in Jesus’ name.
