"Stand"

I never thought I’d see the day,

For a thousand channels we would pay,

And hand-held phones would constant play,

To keep us in the know.

When social platforms give us news,

And politicians take their cues,

From donors who require their dues,

And all is done for show.

What we always thought was wrong,

Is proudly preached and all day long,

And evil men have grown so strong,

They call the darkness light.

Our youngest ones are in harm’s way,

Ensnared by lies they’re taught to say,

And Lord knows how much they will pay,

If we can’t get this right.

What can we do, I think it’s clear,

Else we’ll lose all we hold dear,

And that means that right now and here,

We try to make a stand.

Praying always by the Book,

We love and live and always look,

To take back what the devil took,

With faith in Christ we can.

Without judging make the call,

To come to Christ who died for all,

Who will lift up all who fall,

He is all we need.

To out-love all who curse His name,

Praise Him daily, give Him fame,

Armor up, break satan’s claim,

And plant the gospel seed.

“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” (1 Peter 5:8-9, NIV)

It doesn’t take a prophet to see that the devil is at work. The erosion of biblical morality, the breakdown of the nuclear family, and the blatant disregard for authority are just a few of the symptoms. When you put this together with the dehumanizing growth of technology, the results are not good. Now is the time to rise up in the power of the Holy Spirit, and lovingly but truthfully call people back to God. It will be challenging, requiring sacrifice, and some will suffer. But it will always be worth it. Live on purpose, in the name of Jesus. Now is the time.

Lord, help us to be self-controlled and alert, in Jesus’ name.
