"Texas in May"
Just let me say that Texas in May,
Is a wonderful time of the year.
It’s breezy at night, and the calm of twilight,
Says it’s spring and the heat’s not yet here.
It’s coming of course, when the days are divorced,
From all but the sweltering temps,
And we have to adjust, no doubt it’s a must,
The sun laughs at our boldest attempts.
But the hot summer’s heat, still can be sweet,
And our work still has to be done.
Find the river and jump, and don’t be a grump,
Just go out and have summer fun.
The seasons will pass, we look back at last,
And relive the good times again.
‘Cause Texas in May, we’re blessed with today,
We’re praising and saying amen.
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, NLT)
Time passes seasonally, and so does the work of the Lord. Because of technology and the busy-ness of our culture, we measure time in minutes and seconds. Perhaps it should not be that way. I’m not suggesting that we ignore our schedules and become irresponsible with our appointments. But if we hold life with an open hand and are led, not driven, we can flow with the Spirit’s rhythm. If you are in a season of testing there is no way to shorten or hurry through it. If you are in a season of expansion and blessing, the same is true. Walking in step with the Spirit means we thankfully respect the season and trust Him to lead us through it.
Lord, teach us to stay in step with the season Your give us, in Jesus’ name.
