"They Come"

They come from all directions, as if blown here by the wind,

Some are seeking answers and a new place to begin.

Others filled with chaos, with nowhere else to go,

And if they came on purpose they couldn’t tell you so.

We try to make ‘em welcome, to show each one some love,

Know Jesus gave us welcome to His Father up above.

And sometimes we can help ‘em, with others not so much,

Just sow the seeds and share the truth, then try to stay in touch.

Some get their souls converted, find strong sobriety,

Finally with the peace they crave, and God-sent sanity.

Others get the healing deep, find ways to then forgive,

All the ones who injured them and made life hard to live.

Casualties and chronics, and train-wrecks by the score,

God said He would draw them if we lift up Jesus more.

And so we have decided to try and do just that,

Speak the truth in love and say He is where life’s at.

An ER for the sinners, and ICU for all,

To raise up young believers, and help them hear God’s call.

With a vision to be holy and find the Spirit’s flow,

Embrace Christ’s great commission and to the nations go.

“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this ministry of reconciling people to Him.” (2 Cortinthians 5:18)

All those who know Jesus are called to make Jesus known. All cannot do it the same way and shouldn’t try. But all are called and entrusted nonetheless. We are God’s advertisement to those who don’t yet know Him, and when they come, to mentor them in the faith. God’s grace is powerful enough to set the captive free and do what otherwise could never be done. Never doubt it.

Lord, use us, in Jesus’ name.
