"Threat"

When the wolves make noise and growl and poise,

To devour what you love,

The weak get scared and those fangs bared,

Threaten satan’s push to shove.

But not the strong ‘cause for so long,

They’ve trusted in God’s grace,

To fight the fight, clothed with the light,

And boldly they will face,

The devil’s threat that comes to get,

What is to us most dear,

But God’s free men, whom He will send,

With boldness do not fear.

In Jesus’ name because He came,

To break old slew foot’s grip,

They stand, resist, and here’s the gist,

Won’t run and will not slip.

Because the Spirit, they can hear it,

Despite the noisy flood,

God’s standard raised, God’s name be praised,

There’s power in the blood.

These warriors strong will fight the wrong,

For everything that’s right,

And in the end will never bend,

Throughout the darkest night.

So if the bully tries to sully,

Kill, steal and destroy,

Send out the call, don’t fear the brawl,

God’s troops He will deploy.

Take their stand with courage grand,

The Good Lord calls their name,

They cannot fail, but live to tell,

The praise of Jesus’ fame.

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith…” (1 Peter 5:8-9, NLT)

The battle is real and satan still prowls. What is our response? To pray for safety? Perhaps a better prayer would be “Lord, equip us for battle!” We are never to be intimidated by a demonic bully, but rather resist him in Jesus’ name. Those who walk in consistent humility are given the grace to make the devil flee. The authority we stand under becomes the authority, in Jesus’ name, to fight every spiritual battle. Not flesh and blood, but spiritual wickedness in high places. In Jesus’ name, fight.

Lord, equip us for battle, in Jesus’ name.
