"Turn Back"
I’m travelin’ down an unknown road,
And sometimes feel can’t bear the load,
I’m reaping seeds that I once sowed,
I cannot get them back, but I will not turn back.
I do not know where I am bound,
Sometimes feel more lost than found,
I listen close to hear the sound,
Of His voice, stay on track, and I will not turn back.
I think of those who went before,
Who set their sails, lost sight of shore,
And full of faith down to the core,
They mastered the knack, and knew God had their back.
They pleased the Lord with their faith walk,
Out on the waves, and not just talk,
They risked it all and did not balk,
I see just what I lack, but I will not turn back.
And in the end to sacrifice,
And willingly to pay the price,
And live a life with grace suffice,
By faith alive, no slack, and I will not turn back.
To finish strong would be my goal,
To point to Him who makes men whole,
And by God’s grace, to save a soul,
To overcome attack, and I will not turn back.
“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen…” (2 Cor. 4:18, NLT)
Walking by faith is all about seeing something others can’t see. They can see the troubles, and so can we. If we are not careful, what we see can overwhelm us. But we see more than that. What do we see that others don’t? We see a spiritual reality that is bigger than the physical realm. We see God’s power, presence and plan. We see that God is at work in everything that happens, for His glory and our good. We see that our lives are not measured by the world’s definitions, but by what God says is true about us. We see that when life is over, eternity begins, and we are fully assured of our eternal home. We see the immediate, but we focus on the eternal. Ultimately we see that this world cannot steal our peace, and we have nothing to fear. Why? Because we walk by faith, and not by sight.
Lord, help us walk by faith, in Jesus’ name.
