"Weather Wonder"
The wonder of the thunder,
And the rain when it comes down,
Refreshing I’m confessing,
As it wets the thirsty ground.
Wind blowing and we’re knowing,
It’s an answer to our prayer,
Grasses greening, songbirds preening,
Giving praise without a care.
All the critters with their litters,
Out to find a long, cool drink,
Calves are playing as if saying,
This is fun, and don’t you think,
Though it’s weather and if whether,
It gets dry or cold or wet,
Thought summer heat’s a bummer,
We give thanks for what we get.
Our observation of creation,
Lets us know the Good Lord cares,
Can’t control, but from our soul,
We can trust He’s always there.
“Ask the Lord for rain in the spring, for He makes the storm clouds. And He will send showers of rain so every field becomes a lush pasture.” (Zechariah 10:1, NLT)
The ancient prophets clearly pointed to God as the giver of rain. Even with all our modern technology we cannot control the weather, and those of us who raise livestock are even more acutely aware of this. We pray and trust the Lord to help us, and depend upon His provision to see us through. We’ve all been through droughty times and even moments when storms became destructive to human property and life. But in the end we see God’s presence and power in His creation, and especially in the parts upon which we so closely associate and interact.
Lord, send us the weather we need, in Jesus’ name.
