"What I'm Finding"

What I’m finding as I’m fighting,

That binding’s so exciting,

Trails winding but wrongs righting,

To put the devil on the run.

Jesus naming, not another,

Jesus faming, and no other,

Jesus claiming ground, my brother,

The war for us is won.

And I’m running with the Spirit,

Sin we’re shunning do not fear it,

Bold and stunning can you hear it,

With the armor of the Lord.

Being strong God will deliver,

Battle long He’s our caregiver,

Full of song here in the river,

And forever He’s adored.

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10-11, NLT)

Part and parcel of being a disciple of Jesus is being engaged in spiritual warfare. We are promised that if we resist the devil he will flee from us. But this can only be done when we operate in the power of the Spirit and are clothed in the armor of God. The power we rely upon is the presence of Jesus living through us. And the armor refers to our spiritual identity in Christ. Thus clothed we can prevail with God’s help. Binding people to God’s saving, healing power and loosing them from evil in Jesus’ name is both our honor and our responsibility. Let us get on with it, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, help us stand firm against the devil’s strategies, in Jesus’ name.
