"Why Not?"
He held her head and said to me,
Now, son, step on board,
Round pen lots of ground work, see,
And ne’er a sour chord.
So why not climb up on that horse,
And see what she will do,
And really that’s what’s next of course,
The timing we both knew.
She moved off gently walking,
That ground work did the trick,
She never thought of balking,
And did not buck a lick.
Why not go and rope that bull,
I know he’s big and mean,
And, sure he’ll be a hand full,
But if you catch him clean,
We’ll team up and stretch him out,
We’ll get the upper hand,
Do it quick without a doubt,
Ride in and take command.
And off we go to get it done,
We’re careful but carefree,
Why not make the game plan fun,
And spin a coil you see.
Loaded up and on his way,
To the place where he should be,
Everything turned out okay,
A big relief, you see.
Sometimes you gotta ask why not,
When a challenge comes our way,
Not be afraid, give what we’ve got,
And let no doubt hold sway.
Be proactive and on time,
Prepared, ready to ride,
Knowing things will work out fine,
Why not, at least we tried.
And saying to the Lord above,
I’m yours, let’s get ‘er done,
Empowered by amazing love,
Devoted to the One,
Who opens doors no one can close,
And closes what He wills,
‘Cause in the end the Good Lord knows,
What His Spirit fills.
Why not come and let us run,
To do all that we could,
Why not follow Christ the Son,
To serve the way we should.
And in the end the final day,
Will come but until then,
Why not live the Jesus way,
No matter where we’ve been.
“I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NLT)
What we do is not always what God says is best for. us. So, to say God will help us do everything is not exactly what this means. What it does mean is that when the Lord calls us to something we are not limited by our own strength or effort. We can do anything and everything He intends because of the Holy Spirit living within us. His strength is literally perfected when we are too weak to get things done. But then we are energized by that power which alone enables us to do God’s will. His Spirit is the power behind every effective witness, every conquered temptation, and every moment of spiritual victory. Why not trust Him to do through you what He alone can do?
Lord, help us accomplish all You intend us to do, in Jesus’ name.
