"Windy Day"
A windy, cold December day,
It makes my horses want to play,
And brings to mind my yesterday,
Before regrets took hold.
And weighed me down so much you see,
I could never be care-free,
The way the Lord intends us be,
Or so the Bible told.
The wind is blowing, wish my heart,
Would let the heaviness depart,
And the season’s joy just start,
Lord, bring it on the wind.
You said just as the wind once blew,
The Spirit brings a life that’s new,
It’s something that we know it’s true,
When we are born again.
And so right now in Jesus’ name,
We say our hearts won’t be the same,
Drop all regret, surrender shame,
And give it all to Him.
The Healer of all broken hearts,
Who seals together broken parts,
The author of our brand-new starts,
The way it’s always been.
Blow, O wind, away our care,
Let us know the Lord is there,
Fill us with what we can share,
By Your grace we are care free.
Celebrating all the way,
Free from bondage that held sway,
Living life by what You say,
The way it’s meant to be.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
Worries and cares are inevitable. It’s because life is heavy, and we’re not in heaven yet. Still, if we intentionally give everything over to God He promises relief. His relief is rooted in His care for us. Clearly we have unfortunately learned that people don’t always care about us the way we expect. Disappointment can be a bitter pill. But what a relief to know that the Lord does care and will never disappoint. One final hint: when you give it to God and lay it down, don’t pick it back up.
Lord, help us to cast every care on You, in Jesus’ name.
