"All"

The Lamb was spotless without sin,

The way it had to be,

No doubt faultless till the end,

To do two things, you see.

Eternal judgment satisfied,

The debt was paid in full,

The soul’s adjustment sanctified,

Blood-washed white as wool.

Awesome love poured freely down,

For every wound a stripe,

By God above restored and found,

Heart-broken tears to wipe.

Not just a Lamb but Lion, too,

Who roars out loud His claim,

The great I am, both tried and true,

Hell runs in Jesus’ name.

All to say to one and all,

This love is meant for you,

So hear today the Savior’s call,

He’s done all He can do.

“Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:8, NAS)

Jesus was humble and Paul calls disciples of Jesus to embrace the same humility. Jesus’ humility led Him to perfectly obey the Father. The proud do not obey, and God promises to resist them. He graces the humble, which empowers them to do what God requires. Jesus said yea to the Father’s will and laid down His life on the cross. He claimed that no one could take His life but that He could both lay it down and take it up again. Because He willingly obeyed the Father, God highly exalted Him. The way of salvation came at an awful cost, but was fully accomplished through Jesus’ death and resurrection, humility and obedience.

Lord, help us humble ourselves and obey You, in Jesus’ name.
