"I Know"
Many things I do not know,
Nor could I e’er explain,
Time brings what makes mystery grow,
The what and why aren’t plain.
But I know Jesus died for me,
The reason why is love,
Rose up again to set me free,
God’s pow’r from up above.
And knowing this brings peace indeed,
Within my heart so deep,
His grace was sent to meet my need,
His promises He’ll keep.
The complications of this life,
Go far beyond my reach,
But all the tragedy and strife,
Become God’s way to teach,
That He’s the only anchor true,
That holds through every storm,
His Spirit shows us what to do,
The Spirit-filled new norm.
If I but choose the cross to bear,
Die to my selfish will,
The resurrection power is there,
And He empowers still.
That which raised Christ from the dead,
Now lives inside of me,
Exactly what the Good Book said,
And it’s the truth you see.
The chaos of this troubled world,
So much I cannot count,
But over all God’s love unfurled,
And it’s the living fount,
That waters us and feeds us, too,
And makes this life worthwhile,
And He’ll return we know it’s true,
And end our every trial.
“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.’” (Matthew 28:5-6, NAS)
When the women and later the disciples realized what had truly happened it was literally unbelievable. But they knew and were convinced it was true! It became their mission to tell everyone about it. The news spread like wildfire and nothing could stop them. Why? They were convinced Jesus was alive and they were filled with the Holy Spirit. Without technology, buildings, and organization they were unstoppable, even when killed or persecuted. May the fire of Jesus’ resurrection ignite us, too.
Lord, make us unstoppable in sharing the Good News, in Jesus’ name.
