"Why?"

Why a baby, why a son,

Why this way the only one,

God’s one choice to get it done,

I can’t but wonder why.

Why the back door Bethlehem,

Why the shepherds way back when,

Why a trough to put Him in,

God’s truth to cure men’s lie.

So humbly was the Word made flesh,

To give us all clean slates afresh,

The chaff from wheat He came to thresh,

So great the mystery.

Yet God’s secret plan is known,

The glories of salvation shown,

The Kingdom seed forever sown,

To bring great victory.

And we are those who benefit,

Amazing grace, yes, that is it,

And free to all who will admit,

This love was meant for me.

Tailored perfect for our need,

A hungry world this bread will feed,

And finally from sin we’re freed,

The way it’s meant to be.

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government shall rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6, NLT)

Jesus is the man-child, the son prophesied by Isaiah. God’s Kingdom rule, His government, came close in Jesus. To see Him was to see the Kingdom. Jesus came as the “Wonderful Counselor,” bringing, speaking and becoming God’s truth. Jesus manifested the power of “Mighty God” everywhere He went- healing the sick, raising the dead, and driving out demons. Jesus said that in seeing Him they saw the Father became He and the “Everlasting Father” were one. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, stilled the storms and brought peace that overcomes the world. In all ways Jesus is God’s answer for a sin-sick world. Hallelujah!

Lord, help us enthrone You as Lord, in Jesus’ name.
