"Bottom"

When your prayers have hit a dead end,

And you don’t know what to think,

When there’s no more strength to expend,

And all hope begins to sink.

Remember that the Lord is there,

He’s never far from you,

There is no end to His care,

And what He still can do.

And though you are discouraged,

God knows just how you feel,

And he will still encourage,

His sustaining grace is real.

Rock bottom’s not a bad place,

‘Cause from there the Lord can lift,

And He will set a new pace,

And send the Spirit’s gifts.

To help you see the way through,

A new start to begin,

His Spirit flowing through you,

Says this is not the end.

So you can tell the fallen,

To never give up hope,

The Lord Himself is callin’,

And He will help them cope.

Look up, look up, my brother,

And sister, you look, too,

His grace for you, none other,

There’s nothing He can’t do.

“He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet on a rock making my footsteps firm.” (Psalm 40:2, NAS)

Time and time again people say it. When I hit bottom the Lord was there to lift me up. And what a powerful testimony when one has allowed the Lord to do just that. The most hopeless case is not too far gone for Him. The incurable can be healed, the lifelong addiction broken, and the captive can be set free. God is still in the saving business and there’s no end to what He can do if we cooperate. He is a miracle-working Savior- the same yesterday, today and forever. When He’s brought you up you know it! And it’s the best news of all.

Lord, help us cooperate with Your life-changing grace, in Jesus’ name.
