"Choices"
The choices that we have to make,
Require someone that’s wise,
It’s not something that you can fake,
If you want to win life’s prize.
But hit or miss just seems to be,
That way things sometimes go,
And no exaggeration, see,
When we so rarely know.
What to do or what to say,
Or when to let things go,
When to simply walk away,
Go faster or go slow.
We need help and know we do,
But pride gets in the way,
Won’t admit that this is true,
And that we’re not okay.
The Good Lord sees it all you know,
His promise to provide,
The way He really wants to show,
His secrets to confide.
But we must listen carefully,
And humbly pause and ask,
Handle all so prayerfully,
With every single task.
The guidance from the Lord above,
Is well within our reach,
His Spirit energizes love,
And that is what He’ll teach.
Acknowledge Him, that’s where it starts,
In all your ways and trust,
Something deep within our hearts,
But no doubt it’s a must.
If we’re to know His guiding hand,
With the wisdom that we need.
Leads our lives to take a stand,
With truth our souls to feed.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NLT)
We underestimate our need for God’s wisdom and overestimate our ability to do without it. Life was meant to be led by the Lord, and He has promised to be generous with His wisdom. But it’s all about seeking His will, trusting His provision, and choosing His path. Paul wrote that the sons of God are led by the Spirit of God. This is the norm for every child of God. We should wise up and let His guidance dominate our thoughts.
Lord, lead us, in Jesus’ name.
