"Come Out"

Some just can’t be trusted,

Double-minded’s what they are,

Their loyalty is busted,

And commitments don’t go far.

They may pretend they love you,

Even with a smile that’s sweet,

But when time comes they snub you,

Though their promises repeat.

Now the Bible says forgive ‘em,

And that’s what we must do,

But you’ll have to over-live ‘em,

Don’t trust ‘em it is true.

It’s a set-up for disaster,

When you try to count on these,

Can’t escape ‘em faster,

So get gone if you please.

They have a form and wear a look,

Of godliness you see,

But deny the power of the Book,

It really should not be.

But in the days ‘fore Jesus comes,

It will get worse this way,

A wise approach. These folks to shun,

It’s just as clear as day.

So love ‘em from a distance,

Come out and be apart,

To the devil give resistance,

And love the Lord with all your heart.

“Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.” (2 Corinthians 6:17, NLT)

God has called us to love and forgive everyone. God has called us to be a witness and win as many people as possible to the Lord. While these things are true, we also must be careful of those who try to influence us in negative ways. Some people are simply unsafe and don’t need to be trusted. If we put ourselves in the unenviable position of relying on the unreliable, they will make us sorry. Some of us have even allowed ourselves to become codependent, perpetually trying to help someone who does not want to change. If we develop healthy boundaries, with God’s help, we will be glad we did.

Lord, save us from unsafe people, in Jesus’ name.
