"Destiny"
What I see ‘bout what I’ll be,
Was based on yesterday,
What my Dad said, and all the dread,
That old script held sway.
The hand he dealt, was all I felt,
A handicap, no doubt,
No confidence, a consequence,
Of all those old chew-outs.
I don’t blame, that’s not my game,
Can’t give what is not yours,
And that you see, makes sense to me,
And helped me find some cures.
And what I found, and soon was bound,
To a whole new story script,
God said to me, so clear, you see,
In Him I was equipped,
To rise and fight, live in the light,
And be the man He said,
A guarantee, by the Spirit be,
One who by God is led.
Healed by grace, God sets the pace,
And we’re His masterpiece,
Takes what was wrong and makes us strong,
From all lies gives release.
And who we are ‘cause whose by far,
Outweighs that old, false me,
And where we go, aim high, not low,
‘Cause that’s our destiny.
“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward fo the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:8-10, NLT)
It’s always been our destiny to live in fellowship with God and fulfill His purpose for us. We are His masterpiece and He has planned to use our lives in magnificent, eternal ways. It’s all based on the truth of God’s word and His promises about whose we are and who we are. The enemy will do all he can to steal this from us, and sends his lies through anyone he can use. Thank God when the truth sets us free, and we finally realize we can reach our full potential because of His grace!
Lord, help us receive and achieve our God-given destiny, in Jesus’ name.
