"Faster"
Always in a hurry,
And faster’s always best,
That way with lots of people,
I’ve put it to the test.
And what I’ve learned I’ll tell you,
It simply is not true,
To rein it in and slow down,
Sometime’s it’s best to do.
Okay to be ambitious,
Working hard with goals,
But if you do not pace yourself,
It’s your ego that controls.
Driven to accomplish what,
Success as this world goes,
But bottom line the soul is sick,
It’s what the Good Book shows.
And getting there the ones you love,
Wonder where you are,
Especially the little ones,
Who need you more by far.
Love is spelled t-i-m-e,
No matter what you say,
And if you do not give it,
There’s really hell to pay.
Be still and know that He is God,
In silence seek His face,
Surrender all you have to Him,
And let Him set the pace.
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10, NAS)
The actual meaning is to “cease striving,” “let go,” and even “relax.” Some are so wound up they can’t seem to chill out and trust God. Holding life with an open hand and learning to be carefree is God’s will for us. We can find our rest in Him. Jesus invited the exhausted to come and receive His rest. Sometimes we even exhaust ourselves trying to serve the Lord. Waiting, trusting and being still in His presence restores our souls and brings us back to a place of peace. Find it.
Lord, help us to be still, in Jesus’ name.
