"Gathering"

I see the cowboys gather,

I hear their stories told,

No other place I’d rather,

‘Cause it never does grow old.

They come to be in cowtown,

And fill the stockyards full,

I love to see ‘em come round,

Not a moment there is dull.

The ranch teams come to rodeo,

Musicians come to play,

Chuck wagons serve good food, you know,

And the poets have their say.

The music and the laughter here,

And the fun for one and all,

Happens fall of every year,

Come to see old Red Steagall.

And I hope they never stop it,

So the future cowboys know,

The old hands still can rock it,

At this old dance and show.

We still have Red here with us,

R.W. and old Murph,

Christen, so dear to us,

On this Texas drover turf.

So come for all the action,

Your cowboy friends you’ll find,

A whoop and spur reaction,

And a western state of mind.

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25, NLT)

There’s something special when like-minded people gather. Whether it’s a family or class reunion, a cowboy get-together, or a meeting of veterans, it’s always memorable. The same is even more true when believers in Jesus Christ have a gathering. The Lord promises to be with us in special ways, and we need the spiritual encouragement it gives us. Don’t miss the opportunity to make the connection!

Lord, help us faithfully gather, in Jesus’ name.
