"Grip"

It’s been a long trip,

With many a slip,

Thank God His grip,

Won’t let go.

Promised He’d stay,

Be with me always,

Keep trouble at bay,

And I know,

With the sunrise comes grace,

For running life’s race,

And no matter the pace,

It is there.

To meet every need,

Help to plant the right seed,

Spirit’s power indeed,

Brings His care.

And if I rely,

On God’s strength and supply,

And His Word apply,

On the way,

The Lord will provide,

In His presence abide,

With no need to hide,

Come what may.

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT)

Jeremiah prophesied during sad, heartbreaking times. Yet he spoke some of the most encouraging, hopeful words in scripture. God’s faithfulness is celebrated in the light of a people who were unfaithful and astray. He could point to the mercies that never cease even in the face of impending judgment. Each new dawn brought a sunrise of God’s favor. We would do well to recall and rely upon His faithfulness. He is there when all else fails, no matter what.

Lord, help us rely on Your faithfulness, in Jesus’ name.
