"Healed"

He rode through hell and you could tell,

The trouble left its mark,

Suffered abuse, thought what’s the use,

It happens in the dark.

Thought he’d bear that load of care,

Until his life was through,

He’d mediate, facilitate,

The things he had to do.

And if you met you’d not regret,

A cowboy to admire,

His demons hid, under that lid,

In fact he could inspire.

But when alone the past hit home,

He cried out desperately,

To find relief and heal the grief,

That very few could see.

And then one night God sent the light,

To challenge satan’s hold,

Someone had prayed, were not afraid,

To say what they’d been told.

The Spirit’s voice said make the choice,

The healing then will come,

The grace is there, and if you dare,

The Lord will give you some.

And when he did the Lord got rid,

Of all that weighed him down,

His hurt was healed, deliverance real,

And then he heard the sound,

Of God’s great call, he heard it, y’all,

And answered with a yes,

I will go, and don’t you know,

His life was truly blessed.

Not just survive but really thrive,

With grace to lead the way,

The Spirit’s power, hour by hour,

And every single day.

The devil’s ploy could not destroy,

What Jesus came to save,

A real cowboy who’s filled with joy,

Because of what God gave.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)

We are all a product of our personal history. But when that history contains crippling hurt we are challenged to live happily and on purpose. The sad fact is that many people are stuck because of what happened to them, and even pass along the hurt to others. The Good News is that no matter what has happened Jesus died and was raised to heal it! It may seem impossible, but God specializes in doing just that. Believe it. Receive it.

Lord, heal us, in Jesus’ name.
