"Holy Week"

Amazing true that Jesus came,

Just the way He did,

Laid aside all heavenly fame,

And all so He could rid,

All of men from satan’s grasp,

From sin and death set free,

Fulfilled prophets’ word at last,

And died for you and me.

Two days down and then the third,

The stone was rolled away,

The miracle of all occurred,

When Jesus rose that day.

And this the holy week we call,

To mind the ancient story,

As step by step He did it all,

To give the Father glory.

Perfume sweet and washing feet,

The betrayer’s final kiss,

Where devils’ hell and God’s grace meet,

A scene too great to miss.

The agony of sin and hurt,

Perversions on his back,

That God will win, His rule assert,

To put us all on track,

For heaven’s gate and what’s beyond,

More than our minds can dream,

The Father’s heart was far too fond,

To let the devil’s scheme,

Steal and kill and e’er destroy,

That’s why Christ had to die,

Amazing true it gives us joy,

We praise the Lord on high.

“He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds you are healed.” (1 Peter 2:24, NLT)

Let us never forget the incredibly personal aspect of the cross. The reason Jesus is a “personal Savior” is because He carried our individual, personal sins to the cross when He died. That’s why Peter could confidently affirm that “by His wounds we are healed.” Healed indeed! Nothing and no one else could have done for us what Jesus did. His was the ultimate sacrifice, and it was personal. Everything about it should be taken personally by us, confidently shared with others.

Lord, thank You for being our personal Savior, in Jesus’ name.
