"Horses Fed"
Horses fed and down they bed,
It book-ends every day,
We throw the feed and plant the seed,
And live the cowboy way.
We learned this from the ones now gone,
Who taught us what they knew,
They mentored well and one could tell,
What we should or should not do.
With a horse, light hands of course,
And handle cattle quiet,
But knew just when to get loud then,
And showed us how to try it.
To stop and start and do our part,
To move the cattle well,
To throw the gate and put on weight,
For those we need to sell.
Take care the land and take a stand,
For what we know is right,
To work for peace, pray troubles cease,
But fierce in every fight.
And in the end the Lord will send,
His blessing on us all,
If we obey and come what may,
Answer heaven’s call.
We can know the grace He’ll show,
To those who seek His face,
And turn from sin, anew begin,
To live out every grace.
“Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.” (Colossians 2:6, NAS)
We begin our spiritual journey when we receive Christ Jesus as Lord. Paul tells us this is done by grace through faith. We put our trust in the offer of His grace to save us, and good to His word, we receive the new birth, pardon for sin, and the promise of eternal life. But Paul’s counsel is then to “walk in Him.” How? The same way we received Him. We walk every day by grace through faith. Just as we trusted Him to save us, we trust Him daily to supply us with what we need. The walk begins on one day, and continues one day at a time.
Lord, help us to live one day at a time, by grace through faith, in Jesus’ name.
