"I Can 'Cause He Will"

Been rode hard and put up wet,

And done a lot I sure regret,

But thank the Lord I’m not done yet,

His grace will see me through.

I learned I must forgive ‘em all,

Not hold a grudge or anger, y’all,

No place for satan, not a-tall,

That’s what we need to do.

And when I ought to watch my mouth,

I start to slip, and things go south,

I call on Him without a doubt,

And let the Spirit lead.

And He will fill the thirsty soul,

Just like Paul and Peter told,

Restoring what the devil stole,

And meet our every need.

So come on brother, cowboy up,

Let Him overflow your cup,

And when He calls just answer yup,

And then His hand we’ll be.

The weakest one will then be strong,

And something we’ve known all along,

He’ll save us from all that is wrong,

And set the captive free.

“For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NLT)

Strength is promised to all who are learning to be content with what God supplies. Sometimes we face adversity, and sometimes everything works out great. But if our peace is tied to our circumstances we are doomed to a roller-coaster existence. Life is unpredictable, but God’s grace is a constant. And if we seek to do His will God’s strength will meet us in the intersection of a righteous choice and experience. We will always have what we need to do what He requires. No matter the past or current sense of weakness, God takes pleasure in using vessels that are keenly aware of their own limitations. It’s called humility, and it triggers grace.

Lord, teach us to rely on Your strength, in Jesus’ name.
