"It's Time"

When the time comes and you know it,

You’ve waited and you’ve prayed,

It’s time to act, don’t slow it,

Or delay the plan you’ve made,

Don’t get stuck in ready-aim,

When you know it’s time to shoot,

Though delays may make their claim,

Don’t even give a hoot.

But go ahead and take that step,

You’re walking now by faith,

You’ve spent enough time on the prep,

With all those prayers to bathe,

All you do with fervent plea,

To have God’s blessings strong,

And He has promised He will be,

There your whole life long.

So do not hesitate one bit,

But boldly take your stand,

Don’t back up a single whit,

Make sure your fire is fanned.

When you look back and see this day,

You moved in Jesus’ name,

You’ll recognize and gladly say,

That’s when our blessing came.

13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. (Hebrews 3:13-14, NIV)

The Scriptures place great emphasis on the gift of today. When we are planning something and believe the Lord is leading us, every day leading up to the actual event is filled with anticipation. Sometimes this causes people to run ahead of the Lord’s timing. Others are so cautious about it that they seem stuck on “ready-aim.” But it's a beautiful moment when we know we are doing what God intends exactly when He wants us to do it. Today is a day to encourage one another to do exactly that, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, help us do everything You’ve called us to do, and exactly on time, in Jesus’ name.
