"Just the Way It Is"
It’s just the way it is, they said,
And I believed ‘em, too,
Who was I as just a kid,
To question false or true.
They also said, I even read,
We’ve always done this way,
And so the rut, no ifs or buts,
Was set and here to stay.
The sacred cow must live somehow,
And always go untouched,
God forbid that we get rid,
Of what had meant so much.
But truth to tell, to ring the bell,
And call it out as wrong,
The status quo dies hard you know,
Been at it for so long.
But things should change be rearranged,
If the truth demands,
And that’s just it, if here we sit,
Reclining on our hands.
Get up and fight for what is right,
And let tradition go,
Reach farther back for truth we lack,
And trust the Lord to show,
Us what to do and e’er be true,
To the Spirit’s strongest lead,
Though they resist we cannot miss,
He’ll show us what we need.
And in the end, the Lord will send,
The grace for what is real,
What’s been will break for Jesus sake,
Our hearts to His will seal.
So light the fire for God’s desire,
To send revival soon,
Will overwhelm the devil’s realm,
And welcome God’s bridegroom.
“Stretch forth Your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus. After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the Word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:30-31, NLT)
The early church prayed and expected miracles to happen. They did! God sent them power to spread His word boldly, and when the Spirit is moving that’s always what happens. The religious status quo rarely welcomes such divine upheavals. People get stuck in religious ruts that ultimately quench the Spirit and emphasize manmade habit over Spirit-led renewal. But anywhere people humble themselves and are hungry for God to move He will. May broken, humble believers everywhere cry out to God as never before for revival. God still can and will.
Lord, send renewal to overcome just the way it is, in Jesus’ name.
