"Led"

There is a way of knowing,

Which way we ought to go,

It’s with the Spirit’s blowing,

God’s will for us to show.

It’s always from the Good Book,

Those words He spoke before,

Teaches us when we look,

And opens every door.

We make our plans to follow,

We pray for what is best,

Our commitment is not hollow,

To make sure we are blessed.

And He helps us apply it,

As we live day by day,

And we cannot deny it,

But walk by faith God’s way.

The scriptures clearly tell us,

That all His kids are led,

We know the Spirit’s jealous,

‘Bout everything He’s said.

But what a joy and big relief,

To know He leads the way,

Graces all inspired belief,

Drives out all our dismay.

A child led by the Spirit,

It’s nothing more or less,

And thank God we can hear it,

His highest and His best.

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14, NAS)

This statement is a great encouragement to every believer. If we are sons of God, we can be led by the Spirit of God. It’s not that God never leads anyone else. He can direct people who have not yet received Christ. But the special inheritance of every child of God is that He promises His personal leadership in our lives. This doesn’t mean we always follow His will, but it is always available to us. And since it is, we should do everything we can with God’s help to learn to let Him direct every step we take. Life’s great adventure is all about the Holy Spirit’s power and personal leadership of our lives.

Lord, lead us by Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
