"Praisers"
Something that I’ve learned is true,
God says that it’s normal, too,
The constant thing that we should do,
Is always give God praise.
In every single circumstance,
Not up to fate or luck or chance,
But by the Spirit join the dance,
And loud our voices raise.
What’s in our hearts will ever speak,
It’s overflows the Savior seek,
Joy that strengthens up the weak,
In everything give thanks.
For this is what the Good Lord wills,
The Spirit’s presence always thrills,
Our anxious souls our worship stills,
While filling heaven’s banks.
So c’mon claim your role, you see,
A worshipper designed to be,
Rehearsing heaven’s destiny,
And praising all the way.
The sacrifice of praise we give,
It’s how the praisers constant live,
No doubt it is transformative,
Till that eternal day.
“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (! Thessalonians 5:18, NAS)
God’s word is God’s will, but when God’s word specifically says “this is God’s will,” it’s important to listen. But is it really possible to give thanks in every circumstance? Can we learn to respond to every situation with a “praise the Lord, anyhow.” Obviously God would not instruct us to do something that is beyond our reach. But the only way to get there is by the power of God’s Spirit. It’s when the Spirit helps us that we can consistently praise, no matter what. It is the Spirit that lifts us above that which is overwhelming. It’s not that we always feel it, but simply doing it is what God desires. Rehearsing for heaven every day is what He wants, until we get there.
Lord, help us give thanks in everything, in Jesus’ name.
