"Life"
I’ve had fun and I’ve had trouble,
Had to dig out of the rubble,
Of things I lost, too scared to leave behind,
But living’s really dying,
If all of it’s spent trying,
Seeking things that God says you can’t find.
I’ve ridden pretty horses,
And followed rivers’ courses,
And sought wild cattle out there where they ran.
Done my share of ropin,’
But always was a-hopin,’
I’d catch somethin’ I was proud to brand.
But life can pull its hoodwinks,
And like a rope with hard kinks,
Takes a lot to get it all lined out.
Jesus is the answer,
‘Cause He can heal life’s cancer,
The only One who knows what it’s about.
I’ll say through all the lessons,
And God’s Holy Spirit sessions,
What I know is all about His grace.
There whene’er I need it,
His harvest I can seed it,
And one day soon I’ll look upon His face.
“Each time He said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NLT)
God brings us through things by His grace. Some challenges are self-imposed. Some seem to happen randomly because of life’s uncontrollable circumstance. Others are God-engineered to teach us. In every case there is grace. Grace comes to teach and empower us, and it’s always enough. Paul’s testimony was that the grace was made perfect in his weakness. How true! It’s always there, and it’s always enough!
Lord, give us grace, in Jesus’ name.
